Classic chess is a strategic two-player board game played on an 8×8 grid with 64 squares. Each player begins with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns. The primary objective is to checkmate your opponent’s king, placing it under threat of capture with no escape.
